  • Bricks 4 Kidz & Young Rembrandts

    Bricks 4 Kidz and Young Rembrandts partner to provide engaging daily activities within the curriculum areas of science, technology, engineering, art and math. Students will be introduced to different concepts of S.T.E.A.M. through tactile and visual learning methods. Parents will be required to provide lunch each day. Other details regarding attendance will be shared in a detailed flyer. Each week of camp will provide a different theme and a variation of daily activities.
  • Early Kinder Testing

    Early Entrance Kindergarten Assessment Dates and times are subject to change. Assessment is designed to test kindergarten readiness. A non-refundable fee of $60.00 will be due at the time of registration. The Early Entrance Kindergarten Assessment will take place in June. The results of the early entrance assessment are final, HUSD does not have an appeal process. District will charge tuition for the second year of kindergarten enrollment in the amount of the basic state aid received for other kindergarten students.(link Policy JEB) Testing will last approximately one hour.   • Mandarin Summer Camp 2024

    Summer Mandarin Fun: Do you want to learn one of the most spoken languages in the world? Come and join us for a week of fun experiencing Chinese culture and authentic language learning. Our cultural activities will include ping-pong, hacky sack, Mahjong, Chinese Chess, chopstick competitions, Chinese jump rope, and trying Chinese traditional instruments. Students will also have the opportunity to tour China through a virtual field trip experience using VR sets. You do not need to know Chinese to join. This camp also welcomes our Mandarin immersive students, who will work with experienced language immersion teachers in small groups to polish their Mandarin skills. How do you qualify to become a peer mentor? If you have taken Mandarin through Coronado Elementary School's Dual Immersion Program for more than 4 years, or if you are a heritage learner already proficient in moderate Mandarin, or if you have taken Mandarin in middle school and high school for at least 3 years. You qualify as a peer mentor! Come and join us to help our younger students become like YOU and be more successful in their Mandarin learning journey. Games and friendly competitions will be led by peer mentors with their students. Peer mentors may earn volunteer hours while giving back their expertise to the community at the same time. Students will be working in small groups and individually to solve math problems selected from previous competition tests. Each day, students will also practice two rounds of fast paced math facts to enhance their computation skills. Students in this camp need to be passionate about math and are willing to challenge themselves by working consistently in a test setting environment.     Come one come all to Sossaman preseason wrestling camp. This is how we get a head start on the season which starts 1st quarter when we get back to school. We are learning the basics plus more which will be what you need to get going for the season. $100 per student June 17-28 (Monday-Friday) 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Incoming 7th graders and returning 8th graders Sossaman Wrestling Room Need to bring water bottle and wrestling shoes if they have them. They can wrestle in socks if necessary.
  • Sossaman Summer Band

    Jump Start Beginning Band Summer Camp June 3-14 (M-F) 9:00-10:10am Jump Start Beginning Band is available to any student entering 5th–7 th grade who has never played a band instrument or who is wanting to learn a new instrument. Jumpstart Band is designed to give students the opportunity to learn some of the basic skills needed to play an instrument of your choice before the school year starts. Being a part of your school band is extremely rewarding and fun to do! This program will help you get a head start. During the program, students will learn; Instrument assembly, proper hand position, proper playing position, embouchure (mouth) formation, characteristic tone, basic music reading skills. Other Benefits: guaranteed first choice instrument in band, leader in band, gives students an idea of what band consists of before committing an entire school year. Band Summer Camp for the Continuing Band Student June 3-14 (M-F) 10:20-11:30am Continuing Band is available to any student entering 6th–8 th grade who has played a band instrument for 1-2 years. We will continue skills already covered in their school band. We will focus on skills to prepare you to be a leader in your band next school year. Requirements For Class Parents will be responsible for renting an instrument and the supplies from a music store for their child before the camp starts. The school district does not provide any instruments. If your child is a continuing band student and plays tuba, please contact your teacher about using a tuba. Milano’s is the preferred music dealer and you will be able to research cost to rent an instrument. If your child has no idea what instrument they would like to play, they should research the sound and look of various instruments. You may also visit your local music store to look at various instruments. Beginning instruments to choose from are: flute, clarinet, alto sax, french horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, bells (for those who are interested in percussion). Continuing band students will play the instrument they played in school band. Camp will run from June 3-14, Monday – Friday at Sossaman Middle School.   • Strength and Conditioning SUMMER Camp

    7-8 Grade: The Higley High School athletic department will be offering a middle school summer strength and conditioning program for incoming 7 th and 8th graders. This program will be designed to improve athletic performance through and injury prevention through proper strength training. This will be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. (Girls Session: 8AM-9AM, Boys Session: 9AM-10AM) 9-12 Grade: The Higley High School athletic department will be hosting a summer strength and conditioning camp aimed towards improving athletic performance and injury prevention through a proper strength training program. We will be offering two separate sessions, one for girls, and one for boys. This will be held Monday-Thursday. (Girls Session: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM, Boys Session: 11:30 AM -12:30 PM) Students will need to bring secured athletic shoes, athletic clothing that won’t hinder movement, water bottle. Higley High School Weight Room Family discount for the high school session is $225 for families with 3 or more attendees Family discount for the middle school to be no more than $150 per family with 2 or more attendees

    The purpose of Creative Camp to explore various forms of crafting and creativity. Age-appropriate crafts like (Pinterest style projects) resin, pour painting, slime, jewelry, upcycling, tie dye, decor, etc. for 4-8 and paper crafting, clay, jewelry, seasonal crafts and more for K-3. Students will have the opportunity to take home 2 or more one of a kind keepsakes while making new friends and having fun.

    Fit Camp is a structured fitness program which includes warm up, work-out, cool-down, and fun activities with certified fitness coaches.   • Summer Robotics Club

    Session Overview: Session A will be club setting where students can develop engineering and programming skills that can be used to have a robotic system complete different task. Student will get familiar with the Robot parts, sensor, and programming language using the VEX Super kits and RobotC/RobotC Virtual Worlds Software. Session Overview Session B- will be a club setting were students, who plan on competing in with VEX IQ/VEX EDR, can get familiar with the 2024/2025 challenges. They will work on game scoring strategies, mechanical engineering robots to meet challenge, Design notebook organization, and programming skills to meet the 2024/2025 VEX Tournament Challenges. $150 per student Sossaman Middle School (Room 306) 4th-8th Graders Session A: Mondays thru Thursdays, 10 am to 11:15 am, June 3rd, 2024, through June 20th, 2024.     Current 4th, 5th and 6th grade students are eligible to sign up for either the beginning “Smash the Trash” or intermediate “Smash the Trash” trash can band camps (flyer explains) where students will learn and review basic trash can band drumming techniques.
